Simple Scripting

At the heart of DeBabelizer is its ability to set up Scripts that can automatically manipulate individual images or groups of files. Rather than rely on a complex programming language, DeBabelizer Scripts are created by simply selecting menu items and sorting Script elements according to your wishes. Once saved, you can apply the Script to any image, animation, or digital video simply by dragging the Script's ActionArrow® onto a file or a BatchList of files.

Batch Processing and File Management

DeBabelizer was built from the ground up to manage automated batch processing. Unlike other products, which force you to place all of your original files in one folder before processing, DeBabelizer enables you to drag and drop files from any location on the desktop or network into a BatchList, leaving the original files where they were. You can sort, save, and name your BatchLists to suit to your individual needs, enabling you to concentrate on the job at hand rather than hunt for misplaced images.

Automated Image Processing

DeBabelizer enables you to apply hundreds of operations to individual and Batches of images, videos, and animations. Commands include everything from hue/saturation/value adjustment to applying Photoshop-compatible filters to removing the "halo" from an image's outline. Virtually any operation can be applied to any number of images using DeBabelizer's easy scripting.

Resize canvas to adjust canvas size without scaling the image
Resizing options are absolute, common, specific, relative, and percentage, with the ability to define the placement of the image on the canvas

Automated Graphics Optimization

DeBabelizer's SuperPaletteTM technology enables you to automatically create a common color palette from a group of images and remap the images for optimal viewing on the Web, CD-ROM, and corporate presentations. DeBabelizer has custom compression ratios for animated GIFs, and JPEGs, which shrink file size without compromising image quality.

Rather than being constrained to the colors used in a standard palette such as the Windows system palette or a Netscape browser palette, you can create your own custom SuperPalettes, with even fewer colors, providing superb image quality and much smaller file sizes.

Set pixel depth to reduce or increase color depth
Set palette and remap to reduce colors to any of the 22 built-in palettes or any customized palette and respect off-limit colors
Reduce colors to combine color reduction with the ability to utilize an existing base palette
Convert to black and white with ordered, Albie, or threshold color reduction

Automated File Conversion

DeBabelizer reads and saves out to more than 100 graphic file formats. No matter where an image came from or where you want to use it, DeBabelizer can convert it. DeBabelizer looks at the actual image data, so even if a file is mislabeled or is missing an extension, DeBabelizer will read the image and let you know the actual file format.

Simple Batch Automation Scripts

Batch Automation steps you through all the information Equilibrium DeBabelizer needs to handle batch processing. Inline scripting makes editing scripts a snap. Simply double-click on any command in the Script window, and you get the dialog box to modify settings on the fly. The Scripts Wizard walks you through the creation of some of the most popular scripts you will need.

Web graphics preparation: This Wizard automatically saves images to JPEGs or creates GIFs (thumbnails and original size) with the option to reduce to either a 128-color SuperPalette or 216-color Netscape palette
Remapping to Windows palette: Remaps images to 256 colors, with the first and last 10 reserved for Windows 3.1/95 and NT color palette

Creates Optimized Animated GIFs

DeBabelizer enables you to import either still frames or QuickTime and AVI movies and automatically convert them to optimized animated GIFs. DeBabelizer's new lossless custom frame differencing algorithm shrinks animations up to 70 percent smaller than before. This, coupled with DeBabelizer's SuperPalette technology, which creates an optimal common palette for a group of frames, allows for the fastest download time with the highest image quality.

DeBabelizer makes it easy for you to repurpose digital video for use across a variety of media. DeBabelizer's SuperPalette technology optimizes video for use in 8-bit environments such as multimedia presentations, video games, and the Web. Global log

DeBabelizer Pro 4.5's global log helps you work faster and pinpoint errors when they occur. The log automatically records all executed operations and errors automatically. Now you can run a batch unattended without worry.

Pixel shift

Now you can create a scrolling background for games, animations, and digital video by automatically animating objects with Pixel Shift. Pixel Shift can shift the entire image and wrap the remaining image within the image frame or fill the unused area with the background color.

Pixel locator

Modify index color values with ease with DeBabelizer's new Pixel Locator. You can now locate pixels in an indexed image by their index value. This also can help you analyze which colors should be removed during "hand-optimization."

Interactive previewing
DeBabelizer now provides interactive previewing from every appropriate dialog. Refer to the Before and After views of the active image as you make color adjustments in the dialog.
Extensive drag-and-drop capabilities
Process images right on the desktop. Drag files from the Finder onto a BatchList, drag an ActionArrowtm from an open image onto a BatchList, drag an ActionArrow from a script onto an image or BatchList, drag an ActionArrow from one image onto another to perform automatic compositing - and the list goes on.
Unlimited number of open image files
DeBabelizer now enables users to open as many image files as their system resources can support. They can cut, copy, and paste selections between open images, display all the images in the BatchList, etc.
Create, view, edit, and save scripts and BatchLists on the desktop
With the addition of the Script and BatchList windows, using scripts and BatchLists has never been easier. View any script on the desktop; add, delete, or rearrange operations; edit the parameters; and preview the results of the script; all within the Script window. Working with BatchLists is just as easy. Easy sorting, rearranging, adding, deleting of files makes managing BatchLists a snap. Drag and drop folders and HTML files from the Finder to automatically generate the desired list of graphic files.

Improved Web support

Automatic HTML parsing
Simply drag an HTML file from the Finder, or copy a URL from a Web browser, and DeBabelizer automatically parses the valid graphic files and places them in the BatchList. Process and save the files in the BatchList, and automatically update all the graphics in an HTML file.
Improved JPEG, GIF, and PNG support

More powerful color reduction

Improved Dithering
Achieve better results when applying dithering in a 32- to 15-bit color reduction. DeBabelizer now provides two different methods for this type of reduction. Use Ordered Dither to 15 bit to reduce the dancing pixel effect that can occur when sequential frames are reduced, or use Dither via
Apple Color QuickDraw.
Create SuperPalettes using a base palette Users can now include any palette as a base palette when they generate a new SuperPalette. Automatically create custom Windows and browser-compatible palettes for remapping any group of images.

We've added Blur/Sharpen and Custom Convolution filters to expand DeBabelizer's filtering capabilities.

Full CMYK support for desktop publishing

Convert images from CMYK to RGB
DeBabelizer now converts CMYK images to RGB in one easy step. Take all those print-optimized images and process them for Web screen display using Apple's ColorSync technology.
Convert images from RGB to CMYK
DeBabelizer also converts RGB images to CMYK in one easy step. Users can now process graphic files for optimized output from a color printer or image setter. DeBabelizer also supports channels in CMYK, so you can edit separations independently.
Read and write CMYK formats
DeBabelizer now reads and writes a number of CMYK formats, including Scitex CT and DCS. Process CMYK images without performing any conversion or losing any of the original color quality.

More powerful scripting capabilities

Create scripts using an unlimited number of operations
DeBabelizer's script handling has been greatly expanded, allowing up to 500 loaded scripts with any number of operations.
Conditional script parameters
Use DeBabelizer's new While, If, Then Else, and EndIf conditional script statements to enable variable processing. Conditional statements can be viewed right in the Script window.
